Default LSX Block, Forged Crank, Froged Pistons, AFR What cam for NA

ok so I am looking at a 427 Iron LSX block thinking about changing the pistons on her and making her N/A. She has Forged internals and AFR 225 heads with a Fast 90 intake on her.

the only reason Im thinking of going N/A is to get the motor in the car, once she is in and running for a year or two I`ll turn around and do a blower. The motor is currently setup for 8:1 compression so im probably gonna have to change the pistons. The motor is out of the car though and will need to be gone through anyway.

Thoughts on Cam Size? Looking for some good RWHP and Torque.

Just throwing options around, the other option is to have the motor gone through and let it sit for a year or two while I go and buy a blower (Pro Charger)

Let me know what you think im at a loss right now.

Mid 240's 620's lift over 500rwhp but .....just give Tick a call and have a custom roller made just for your engine

Tick performance? What's specs would they want? Sorry new to internals.

Also will I be able to keep low compression in case later I wanna blower it?

8:1 is kinda low for a boost engine unless you plan on massive hairdrier.
Look you cannot just do both, it is either you do it NA or a blower setup. The two have different specifics.
Just saying 'I'll throw a blower on it' doesn't cut it. Be realistic and answer some Qs first.
- How much boost do you plan on throwing at it?
- What fuel will you run?
- Where do you want the power made? (what rpm range).
- Power goals? (realistic)

Motor made 720lbs of torque and a little less horsepower boosted under 8psi. that was between 4800 to 5500 Rpm. The compression you are correct is between 9:0 and 9:1 but dont.

What I am looking for is to change this setup to a setup that allows near 500rwhp N/a at say 5500 to 6k rpm. Unrealistic?

my goal is to keep the car N/A but possibly add a Supercharger later. I do not want to have to tear the block down again, especially since now it is out of the car. I would change the pistons now if I needed to raise the compression.

Let me know what you think

You could build it at 10:1 Cr now and stay NA, and later down the road add the pro charger and if you used E85 fuel then 10:1 Cr would still work for you..

By changing pistons correct? Which pistons would you suggest?

E85 would be interesting to get in NJ though... Would prefer pump gas..

or are you saying 10:1 now will be fine on pump gas but when I run the procharge i will need e85?

10:1 to 10.5:1 is perfectly fine, and some believe even optimal, for a mild supercharged setup (10-12 psi).

Look at all the stock block cars making 700+ rwhp with 12-14 psi.

You don't need e85, just spray methanol.

Yes there's a few ways to do it, pistons, mill the heads to get the Cr you want... Should look up a Cr calculator and start playing with it...

10:1 - 10:5 Cr will work with pump gas and meth spraying, or E85 fuel..

Yes 10:1 will be fine on pump, it's not as good as 11 or 11:5 for a stout NA build but it's a good compromise if and only if you boost your engine later..

so this has completely changed, I have gone ahead and decided to do an F1r with Dan Schoenick Cog.

That being said how do you feel about the compression the motor is setup for now at? Do I need to raise it at all? I am setting the car up to be about 800 to 900 WRHP. please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!
