Default ls1 vs lq4

I currently ha a 04 ls1/t56 in my mustang. All it has is a ms3 cam and a set of long tubes. It made 401whp on the local dyno. I am pulling that motor and putting in a nice 370 with 317 heads and a TU2 cam. Ill be putting it in the car and running it n/a for awhile before i toss my turbo setup on. Will there be a big power difference between the two? Will they dyno about the same?

Thanks

Depending on the compression difference between the two, you may actually make more with the LS1/MS3 combo. I assume it's relatively stock compression, correct? With the LQ4/TU2 combo, I'm sure you're going to try to keep the compression around 9:5.1, so there goes some NA power, but obviously turbo friendly.

Ls1 has stock compression with 241 heads nd ls6 intake. The 370 has stainless valves. A good valve job and a little clean up on the runners. It will have the same ls6 intake and headers. The 370 is 9.63:1 compression

I know the specs of the MS3 cam, but what are the specs of the TU2 cam? I doubt you're all the concerned about NA power on the 370ci anyway because it's going to be getting a turbo.

There is a few variables there. Better head flow, less compression and a little more displacement. I am in to see the results. Will be interesting.

More cubes= more power, torque....only downside is lower compression and higher weight of the actual engine

I'd say in the end, it's likely going to be a wash. You may make a little more NA power with the 370, but I doubt you keep it NA long.
