What block would you choose
If you had your pick of any block what would you use? A Chevy LSX, Dart, World, RHS, or a resleeved LS2 or LS3, or a stock LSA, LS9, LQ4/9, LS3.
I'm wondering which you would use and why?
Thanks

I didn't mean to limit to the ones I listed. They where ment as examples.
Yes application can make a difference that was why I was asking the reason for the choice.

The stock LSA is rated at 800 hp and comes with oil squirters to cool the pistons. Thats what I chose, best bang for the buck. LS9 is rated only for 100 hp more and is about 1500 bucks more expensive.

good tip. I'm consider 6.0 iron vs LS9, darton sleeved, or now an LSA
can you buy ls9 or LSA blocks separate? I talked to a gent who has some but yes, the LS9 is VERY pricey and probably on a little bit stronger
anyone put billet caps and darton sleeves in an ls6 block for a reasonable price?
looking to refresh my motor for a 900 hp build without the extra weight if I can avoid it.
many folks are telling me 800 will work with an ls6 but I'd like to have a bit of safety margin

You can buy the LSA directly from a Chevy dealership. The LS6 cant be sleeved because of water jackets, at least that's what ERL told me. I got the bare LSA block and took what I could from my old LS6, which wasnt much. I suppose if you arent worried about weight, then the iron block would be the best for the money, but I wasnt about to put all that weight on my front end.

Get an LSX iron block and have it sleeved..They did this to a LQ9 way back..by...... Race Engineering Development..$3000 is the cost....I may have this done to my LQ9 block if I can't find a good aluminum core...After this trial run 408...That's a good way to give a LSX standard or a tall deck a proper cylinder sleeve length....4.375 is about as far as you would want to go on the tall deck and really 4.125 for the standard deck ht....ERL wouldn't touch this, They are the best at aluminum stock casting LS blocks besides Race Engineering Development who could more than likely do something with a LSX block the iron is so much strong than standard engine blocks so price will be $$$$$
I really don't like the ides of the RHS block with cast iron liners why not have Ductile sleeves bore max 4.155 vs 4.200..... to replace sleeves is 1500 for sleeves and 1500 for machine work and labor by Kerry @ Pro-line.................. I've priced it...
ERL block for the $ and the weight savings... 427 - 468 cubic inches of U.S. standard aluminum with the best material and length as for as cylinders liners.
The new dart block is just a old SBC with water jackets and head bolt arrangement for LS top end. Kind of old.......
