Default lq4 cam too big?

Hey tech,

I found a smoking deal on a used HKE cam that im considering. What im wondering is if its too big, not a good idea, or just better off going another route. My build as it sits is this:

99 lq4
4.030 forged flat mahle pistons w/valve reliefs
243 heads off of gto with steel valves. (bought valves separate)
ls6 intake
ported throttle body
Stock rods and crank (will be balanced)
Th400 3500 stall.
Eventually 100-150 wet shot

Dont really care about driveablility, will be street strip build.

Specs of cam are 243/255 112+2 lsa .624 lift.

The owner said that it was in a 403 ls2 based stroker and with 317s and ls1 intake made 488rwhp/450rwtq.

Will this cam work for me and my setup? or am i wasting my time and money.

For the intake you have yes, that cam would be a bit big. I would get a cam specifically tailored to your use.

Down the road I would eventually end up with a fast intake. Still not a good idea? The cam is low mile and 175 bucks so I figured I could maybe swing it.

it is a larger cam, but with a FAST intake i think youd be fine.

But i have to give a +1 for a custom grind cam. by far the best bang for your buck

What vehicle is this again? With a better intake youll be fine. A FAST 102 wil set you straight.

What gears will you be running? It's a bit big, but then again if all you want is all out top end performance it may not be so bad then. If it were me i'd go with something a little smaller. The lift and LSA are good, but that damn duration is huge lol

Ended up buying the cam. GREAT DEAL. This thing barely looks like its been broken in! Anyway, I have no clue what size pushrods im going to need. Like i mentioned ill be using stock 243 heads, stock rockers, ls7 lifters, new trays and Brian Tooley .660 double springs. I figured the extra amount of lift those springs could handle would be fine for my .624 lift. What size pushrods will i need?

Thanks

I can imagine you are excited but you are going about this the wrong way. Do not seek these answers on the net.
To find p-rod length, you'll need to measure with a p-rod meter.
