Default "Change Oil" light question on 99 Camaro

To reset it I hold down the mileage reset button for like 15 seconds right?

Mine came on today while driving then went away
I just changed my oil like 500 miles ago, so I have no clue why it would come on?? Does it just have a timer on a 99 or do I have low oil going on here or what?

Yeah, just hold the button down for like 12-15 seconds.

It comes on because GM programmed the pcm to tell you when it thinks it needs the oil changed by miles driven and rpms driven at. Some calculation like that. It does not know when you're oil is changed so it assumes it is changed once you reset it. Just reset it and forget about it. Change your oil whenever you want.

Default Oil Change Indicator

Steve, I am not 100% sure on Camaros, but on all GM trucks (2000 or later), to reset the "change oil" indicator, you have to turn the ignition on (w/o starting engine), push accelerator down three times & hold, the light flashes, and it's reset. Your owner's manual should tell you how.

For cars, does it really different? I'm thinking about going to pick up an SS Camaro . Been trying to decide between that and SVT Cobra. One of my co-workers has the SS, and he tells me the SVT's rear doesn't stay planted... always seem to do burn-outs. Comments, guys or gals?
