Default Piston ring gap question

I picked up an lq4 short block the other day for $500. Has katech rod bolts, and stock everything else. He told me the rings had been gapped for boost or nitrous. I know very little on ring gap, but have been trying to read up on it. My question is since i plan running n/a is is necessary to put new rings in it or is it not a big deal? Not sure on the exact gaps either . This will be a carb setup btw. Ported 317s and a decent cam.
Thanks for the help!

If it is just to narrow the gap, no; but this is assuming all is in good order.

Yea i didnt know if the gap would be too wide and hurt n/a compression. He told me it had about 50,000 miles on it. The cylinder walls all look good and clean too

As long as its not a monster ring gap you will be fine.
