Sheet Metal Intake suggestions
I have a LSX 454 and it made 607 rwhp in a 02 Z with a ford 9 inch with 3.90 gears and 6 speed tranny. I'm currently using a Beck's sheet metal intake and this is a solid roller motor so it makes power up to 8000 rpm but I am wanting to change to a different sheet metal intake. I am looking for suggestions on companies that are producing the best LSX sheet metal intakes and they have made a significant amount of the LSX intakes to be able to say yes it will fit properly and adapt well on a LSX to drop in a newer Corvette or Camaro without problems and when bore scoped everything lines up properly without overlap and you dont have to use big spacers for a gap between the intake and heads. Just looking for suggestions and input and also what do they charge to produce their sheet metal intake.

CFE (Carl Foltz Engineering) makes some really nice stuff. Also check out
Hogan sheetmetal intakes. You're probably looking at at least 1200 bucks &
possibly as high as 2500 for a Wilson peice. There are just so many variables
deck height, gasket thickness, heads milled, that it gets difficult for company
to just make and send you something. It starts as a generic welded peice
and then requires plenty of trial fitting and either porting, epoxy, or both in
order for it to mate up perfectly to your cylinder heads. And often times at
that performance level the last thing a sheetmetal intake manufacturer cares
about is whether it will fit a Camaro or Corvette of any year. Thats what hood
scoops are for !!!!

Not sure about CFE, but Hogan's are so "yesterday" with their styling. Not a bad intake, but for nearly $3k, they need to improve on their designs to me. They are so, boxy looking and square with rivets on some of them. More design appealed and modern looking intakes for the guy who wants so sex appeal to his intake....check out Marcella and Precision Metalcraft. These two brands are about the same as a Hogans....about $2800-$3k.

There are a bunch of manufacturers making sheet metal manifolds for LS style motors. A few things to consider are:
1. Delivery time (typical delivery times for sheet metal manifolds are 5-8 weeks)
2. Material (die-formed vs billet)
3. Costs (2200 - 4500 depends on 1 and 2)
4. What are your primary goals? (fabricated manifolds generally will make more power but will raise the power and torque bands considerably)
5. Most of the manufacturers (not all) will want the heads to build the manifold on and in all reality that's probably the best method so be prepared to loose your heads for two months.
