Default Sleeper cam grinds?

Are there any new sleeper cam grinds out, or is it still pretty much gt2-3 and the like? I am putting together something that needs to sound stockish. It is an ls1 with a set of milled 799s, ls6 intake, kooks 1 3/4 stepped to 1 7/8, six speed car.

224r cam and bump the idle up a little bit.

Why does it need to 'sound stockish'? The exhaust will be a big factor as well.

There are definitely some sleeper cams out now with ~.600 lift that will put down more power than a GT2-3, but that is still a great cam, and probably easier on the valvetrain.

I had Ed Curtis grind me a cam awhile back.told him i wanted a GT2-3 on steroids, and be somewhat easy on the springs.specs at. 050 lift are 216/224,.581/.571 lift on a 112lsa.I'll be installing it this winter in my Z/28.it'll have a little lope to it,but with a quiet exhaust and a little higher idle speed im betting it will sound almost stock.

I'd go with a cam with -8* up to -10* overlap . Something like a 221/226 116+4, lift .609"/ .570", this is with CompCams LSL and Xtreme rpm H.L. lobes.
You'll have a IVC of 42.5 and have -8.5* overlap.

BTW, the mild exhaust lobes will have a quieter valve train.

Sleeper grinds are fun. No one ever notices the extra power until they run next to you.

BTW - There's more to them than just making the lobe separation wider on catalog camshafts. That's the internet method of doing it.

I think exhaust note will setup more of the stock sound than anything else. I'm running a custom cam with a 115+3 232/238 and 0.615 lift and a mild lobe and its idling and running almost as smooth as stock, but the exhaust note lets a lot through and amplifies "lope". (IMO, could be done with an even easier ramp up to smooth it further and keep the valvetrain even quieter).
