Max RPM Stock Internals
I know this question has been asked a hundred times but what is the max rpm you can turn an LS1 with stock internals for drag strip use?

Mine is a 2001 LS1 with stock rod bolts. I plan to run it only NA.
I was thinking 6500 to 6800 rpm for mine.
I have another LS, I think its a 2006 that came out of a ski boat with a broken rod. It's broken off just below the wrist pin. I have no idea how they could have turned that motor high enough in a ski boat to throw a rod.

You also have to consider what kind of shape your motor is in, what valve springs you have and if it is even reasonable enough to spin that high. I have a 99 with stock rod bolts, but when i had my dyno tune done my tuner spun it to 6600 five or six times and 6800 a few times. Although my engine took it, i was on borrowed time at that point. As SNL stated, the bulb that burns brighter/hotter burns shorter, this is entirely true. If i hit 6600 rpm every day, every single shift, in my 99 i am sure it would not last a month.
