It'll also very slightly increase the cam lobe ramp rate(at the valves), and duration a miniscule amount in the higher lift range of the cam. IMO, stick with the stock rockers, with roller rockers you're more likely to experience valve float because of the added nose weight, and lose power on the top-end. The only higher ratio rockers I would even consider is the SLP 1.85 stock like rockers, and that's only if I could get a set for less that the price of a new cam.
I'd recommend putting that money towards getting the heads milled and CNC ported.
BTW, do you have a UD crank pulley, ported TB, free mods..?

There is more to matching cam and springs than just lift capacity, and as stated the higher ratio effectively makes the lobes more aggressive as well as the rockers being heavier so you are very likely to experience earlier valve float reducing power. I would also suggest you search here for reviews on the YT rockers. I haven't paid a lot of attention since I know that higher ratio rockers are more headache than anything on an LS but I do seem to remember still seeing a number of breakage reports.

Just because higher ratio roller rockers was a standard mod on gen 1 and gen 2 smallblocks doesn't mean it is automatically just as good an idea on a gen 3.

The gen 1 an 2 stuff was 1.5 ratio ball fulcrum and most guys swapped them to 1.6 roller, the LS engines are 1.7 roller fulcrum right from the factory.

I've been there and done that, and got lucky 2 different times with 2 different sets(old and new revision) of YT rocker failures.
IMO don't get them.

Hi Blu,

What type of YT "new revision" are you talking about please?

But come on $250 think of the savings when absolute worst case a broken rocker knocks the keepers out and drops a valve, smashes a piston, breaks a rod and the block and a head..............

I guess you are speaking here of YT Ultralite you bought in 2004/2005 as per your post below:

From your 11/15/2011 thread here:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...tra-lites.html

By far, those YT are not a "NEW REVISION"...
Did you broke any of the YT stamped on the RIGHT side which is the new revision of YT Ultralite???
If so can you show picture please?

No there not but I bought another set after that. That was the newer revision that I had a pushrod almost wear through the pushrod cup on one of the YT rockers. I went back to stock rockers with the trunion upgrade after that. I do have plenty of spare YT rock sets if any one is interested (old and new revisions).

Blu,

Can you post pictures from the parts that failed on you mentioned in your quoted post please?????????

You will be the first one to report a failure on the YT Gen III...that can be a hot thread on the web, and will worth one for itself!

Waiting for the pictures, or as they say here, it never happened...

The rockers won't change valve events (open point close point) but the overlap triangle will change and each lift point will happen slightly quicker all things being equal. However, note that ratio changes during the rocker movement (it is not a constant 1.7 or 1.8, and the stock rockers are 1.54 close ratio) so that the ratio change during movement would need to be understood to definitively say the valve lift will happen quicker at each point.

Do not waste your money on those. If you want to spend money on your rockers do the trunion upgrade on your stockers. It will not produce more power but it will increase the reliability of your valve train.
