Default 4.8l Crank and spacer for th400???help

I have a 4.8l think its an early one 99-2000. I bought the 6.0 flexplate and spacer and longer bolts but the 6.0 flexplate will not fit over the snout of crank or spacer. The 4.8 flexplate goes right over. Also the 6.0 flexplate with bolt right up to torque converter but the 4.8 only has 3 holes that need to be oblonged to fit. Is this correct that there are only three holes used to bolt up torque converter? Also if anyone can tell me what I exactly need to do to bolt my th400 to whatever flexplate and where the spacer goes It would be much help. I know there are posts about this but all confused right now.

You don't need a 6.0 flexplate for a th400, only 4l80e. I thought only 99-00 6.0s had the long snout?

Make the holes a bit oblong. Just don't get carried away. Little bit will go a long way during install. Put a ls1 flywheel onto crank, then crank spacer, then bolt it. Intsall converter. Converter snout slips into the I.d. of the adapter. Make sure the converter is fully engaged into trans before installing or it will be a PIA. Hope this helps..

Ok. Ls1 flexplate? Is this the same as my 4.8l flexplate. It almost seems like I could bolt up the 4.8l flexplate and bolt the trans and converter right to it? I don't know. I'm not sure if there is a difference between older and newer 4.8s

Your in uncharted territory for me to comment with any useful knowlege. My turbo converters all have 3 bolt holes. Maybe factory stuff came with 6, but I'm not sure. Maybe someone else can chime in.

What you need is the spacer w long bolts and the flat flywheel found in front of.the 4l80 tranmisson. Do not use the ls1 flywheel unless your buying a converter w the correct snout needed for a th400 to shirt crank. Early 6.0 engines had a long crank and used a flat flywheel and snce they only came in 3/4 ton and 1 ton it had the 4l80. I am runing a th400 and went through all this so yes i am sure this is correct. Feel free to pm me w any more questions

He don't even need the flat flex plate. He just needs the spacer, bolted on after the flex plate, and use the stock 4.8 curved flex plate. One post above is correct though. That looks like a 4L80e convertor. They are the only ones I have ever seen with 6 bolts.

What is it your running? Th400 swap w std sbc style converter uses flat flywheel. Curved flywheel ony works w no spacer and specefic ls style converter/th400.
