Default JY 5.3 cracked ring lands 1,3,5,7 with a carb

Any idea how only one side of the engine cracked ring lands with a carb? All four cracked between the first and second, and second and oil ring. Vic Jr intake, 750 blowthrough, EV hat with spacer clocked at 6:00. I'm fully aware of WHY they cracked, but why only the drivers side?

I have always heard the drivers side runs a little leaner.

Definitely sounds like it went lean on the one side.

I don't understand how or why it did it only on one side with a carb on it. If it were EFI, it would be easier to understand.

Maybe a silly thought, could that side have been hotter, causing detonation due to heat, not from being lean.

I thought of that, but I can't find any reason that side would be hotter. Any idea what would make one side hotter ( temp) than the other?

Thanks for the replies guys!!

your water jackets are separated from left and right sides, thats why there is two holes per side for the water pump. check for clogs or maybe head gasket blocked or something on that side.

sounds like a carb issue.

Please help me understand how it could be a carb issue on a single plane mainifold. I know it was way too much timing and crappy fuel that rattled the engine. It was super rich though.

You stated you are using a "blow-thru" style carb? Is this on a N/A engine or FI? Take the carb apart, clean it and blow EVERY passage out. Also check to make sure that you have NO vaccum leaks on that side of the engine that is lean.

very strange considering you have the carb hat positioned at 6oclock. i also run a blow through setup. i would highly recommend running a wideband on both banks when you get it up and running and make sure your getting equal fuel to both sides

Read the plugs they can tell you alot. Also what does the inside of the combustion chambers look like? Same both sides?
