Default 2004 gto HCI insight, and weight shedding

Hey guys, I am in the process of building a full bolt on, HCI m6 gto. my goal is to be able to run mid to high 11s with a HCI ls1. I am still looking into heads but from researching I was looking at 2.5 5.3 heads and, a fast intake, and a good fat bump stick. Drag bags, and other suspension mods, and weight reduction. so basically I figure for my goals of an 11 second car, 430-450whp a solid suspension setup, and some weight reduction I think its do-able. so any insight on what vendors offer a good 5.3 head, or who can port my 241s and have them milled. Also weight reduction is a must, anyone on here running a similar setup to mine, or have there goat trimmed to 3300-3500 pounds, and want to shed some advice please feel free.

Im running PRC 5.3 heads from Texas Speed and am ompressed with them for what they cost. Do what you're doing along with a bump in compression, and mid to high 11's should be faily easy

You will have to take out alot of stuff to get to 3300 range empty.

Easy things to do are:

exhaust
rear seat delete
light front seats
rear tow brace
wheels
skid plate
fuel tank brace
spare tire and tools
driveshaft
other misc small things like engine covers, exhaust shields etc.

That will save you ~200lbs, which will bring you to near 3500 range. From there you're going to have to rip up the interior, AC etc. which will be tough unless you want to make this a stripped out race car.

I've got all of that plus front bumper support removed, battery in trunk, lighter hood etc.

OP the best thing I did was buy these prostars. 70# of rotating weight reduction!!!

My cars weighs 3,520 with 1/4 tank, but I have the 100# heavier iron block

Hey thanks for the list of stuff to tare out/shed weight guys, I have a set of bogarts and we have prostars and drag lites in our inventory ill have to take pictures and weigh the rims and I can post my results. One thing I need advice on is suspension...what is a good strip setup for these cars. im used to dealing with solid axle, fox bodies and thirdgen cars. the irs is a foreign thing to me, I love the way it handles and rides but people say its not ideal for the strip. and advice would be much appreciated, thanks for all the help thus far guys. This is a great forum!!!
