Default CNC 243 with hot cam

So currently I'm running the gm hot cam and I really like it! It makes good power and tons of tq. It put down 370/370 to the wheels which is respectable. I have a set of 243 heads that I want to send out to AI to be CNCd and milled. Anyone have any thoughts on this combo? What kind of power I'm prob gonna be looking at? I really want to keep this cam. I'm aware that there is prob better ones for this combo. But this cam meets my needs. So what do you guys think? Any h/c guys out there with hot cams, please share your thoughts

Since you already have the heads i'd say just go for it. Depending on how much they are milled, compression, etc...you might get around 30-40 hp which would be great

Nice! That would put me around 400-410 rwhp which sounds decent to me for a smaller cam

Yep, and with that cam it should have a nice broad powerband. What rpm do you shift at right now?

Where does that cam peak? I'm just curious because at 6 grand is where most stock cammed LS1's would shift

Uhh I'm not sure I have to check my graph. I usually just play it safe and shift a 6000 my limiter is at 6400 I believe

Gotcha! Well it might benefit you to shift a tad higher. If the limiter is at 6400 i'd try 6200 and see how that works

My buddy runs the hotcam with unported 243 heads and made 400 rwhp.

Good to know! That would mean with ported and milled versions I should be upwards of 400rwhp. Which is right were most other guys with mild h/c setups run. I just don't understand why this cam doesn't get more love.

I always wanted to know how this cam will do in a 5.3. Can't find any numbers. How is the torque with this cam compared to stock?

The torque curve is my favorite thing about this cam. It comes in very early and maintains it all the way up. I have to find my graph to post it

That is a beautiful torque curve! I can now see that your peak hp is about 6k, so i'd definitely try shifting around 6200 if I were you
