Default Cam Question in 5.3l

I purchased a 5.3l block for my swap into an 82 camaro and the guy "threw" in a ls1 cam for free. My question is how will this cam work in 5.3l and is it worth putting in or getting a custom grind. I've looked up the part and grind # to no avail. I know a little bit about cams but not that much and I find it weird the intake and exhaust are the same? and what kind of hp gains could I expect over a stock cam or another custom grind?
Specs: part# 54-000-11 grind#: 13117r/13117r
gross valve lift: I-.598 E-.598
Duration @ .006 Tappet lift 275 275
duration @ .050 I- 226 E-226
lobe lift I-.3520 E-same
Lobe separation 113.0

I just put a LS1 cam in my 5.3 but have not tried it out yet. Car craft did a cam article and the LS1 cam made 50 hp more on the top end but lost 28ft/lb torque around 2800.

Not worth anything from all that I have read, ls6 or ls2 if they r pretty much given to you at a very good price, other than that I'd save up and go custom cam

So this is a stock ls1 cam? i thought it might have a custom grind to it :/ dang it lol. And this is a car that I want to be fast from stoplight to stoplight which is all about the torque so I don't really want to lose the torque :/ guess I'll be getting a custom cam then. Any suggestions that are good for gains now and turbo friendly?

The specs in your first post are not a stock ls1 cam.

Its a comp not much bigger then 224/224 cams plenty of those around.
Its a little bigger then what I would call a baby cam. Is there any advance ground it?

So what would the hp gains be over stock? The .006 to .050 rate was 149 isn't that kind of aggressive? and yeah it says +4 advance

One cam I've always liked in daily driver LS1s or 5.3s is the EPS 222/226...

EPS has a 222/226 .597"/.598" 115+3 using EPS lobes (which are endurance type). It has made 430rwhp with stock unported LS6 heads.

390rwhp stock heads:

Another 390rwhp with stock heads:

430rwhp with PRC 5.3s:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...p-410rwtq.html

I'd do that cam.

wow that seems like a great cam. Is the mpg drastically hurt by it? and would it be fine with a little bit of boost all I'm going to run would be 6 psi or so

It's a mild cam with small duration at .006" so it'll mpg fine with a good tune. It will do fine with that boost level too.
