Default Who makes best forged connecting rods?

So I've been looking for forged conn rods and read some reviews on eagle rods, scat and etc. but it made me think twice about them. Is crower a good company? Anybody know of good reliable brands. 800$ max I'd spend.

I tend to think that 800 is alot for rods. Im all about good parts but sometimes the marketing is better than the part. What rods are in some of the new 500 hp plus gm engines from the factory? Lunati, Crowler and such are max effort pieces but for the average street engine not reving to 9k everytime it runs the compstar rods are great along with some of the other names such as Eagle/Scat.

I've been looking at Callie's website and the only have 6.125 length and longer. I'm looking for stock 6.098 length for lq4. I'd probably only rev car to about 7k-8k on the weekends. Anything on k1?

Are you still going to be running stock pistons? Getting a stock sized rod makes it alot more difficult if you decide to replace pistons later on. The selection of pistons for that sized rod is much more slim.

If you are getting pistons anyway, then get the 6.125 rod. Most pistons will be setup for that length rod

Will that work with stock crank? It won't bump heads would it?

With the 6.125 rod, do you need a special piston? Looks like a wiseco Part# K473M96??

Most shelf pistons are setup for a 6.125" rod with either the stock 3.622" crank or a 4" crank. The Compstar rods or the K1 rods are the best "budget" rods out there and come standard with the ARP 2000 fasteners.

Eagle and the Scat H-Beam are both very good too with ARP2000 rod bolts. But once you get them with the ARP2000 rod bolts, the price is the same as Compstar/K1.

You can get the K1s and Compstars for $550 or less if you shop around. Brian Tooley sells the Compstars for $549 and WS6Store has the K1s for 540. Both include free shipping (make sure you check that when you price match).

You need to consider RPM when looking at rods, not just power. The constant stretching/compressive force is more critical at that power level. I'd find the lightest pieces that make your numbers to avoid undue stress. That said, Callies is hard to beat for durability vs weight.
