Default cam bearing oil galley/hole orientation

Looking at my short block from the machine shop... I cannot see the oil galley in the block through either hole. The holes are sitting at approximately the 0400 and 0800 o'clock positions like I see in most pictures while searching the net and the forum...

Should I be able to see through at least one of the holes into the galley in the block??

While reading my new "How to build and modify GM LS series engines" it seems that I should be able to see the galley machined in to the journal if they are installed correctly.

Thanks!

Yeah, you should be able to maybe on the first or last bearing, but it may just be the angle. Check again with an inspection mirror and a light if you haven't already.

you can check each cam bearing oiling hole with a small allen wrench to make sure that the hole is lined up with the block properly.

Took the cam back out and got a mirror in there and the holes were clearly lined up. I was just being paranoid because I didn't remember seeing them... Oh well. Good advice here, and it was better to pull the timing set and the cam back out and make sure.

Thanks guys.

You can never be to sure when it comes to something like that, if there is a doubt in your mind its always worth checking.
