Filing oil control rings....?
How accurate do the oil control rings have to be filed? I have seen that they need to have a gap between .015" and .060", but do the two control rings need to be the same gap on each piston? For instance, is it alright to have a piston with one oil ring at .030 and one at .018? Will looser oil gaps result in smoking?

To add, the ring size you purchased for your bore will allow you to not have to file the oil ring or support rings, at least it shouldn't. I have never had to file on the oil rings, but I do always check to make sure.

Does it.?????? My leakdown passed with flying colors but still get massive amounts of oil consumption and smoke on decel.....Power is good also. GM's weak *** oil recovery rings is the suspect here.
