Default need some help with heads/cam combo

I have been doing a lot of reading here and am unsure of where I want to go with a good head/cam/header combo. My car will be mostly on the street but will be a weekend warrior as I have two other cars that I daily drive. It is a 2002 z28 with a 6 speed. What I am looking for mostly is getting the most power as low as I can. I don't want a cam that is only going to give me peak power. A nice lopey idle is always good, but I will absolutely not sacrifice any power for a lopey idle. I want to make the most possible power from 1,500-6,500.

I would say budget $4,500 for heads/cam/long tubes

The 5.3 heads I have make good compression, are cheap, and make good all around power...not just peak. As for a cam, maybe something along the lines of a 228R or something similar.

You installing it yourself? For 4.5k, you could get a nice H/C combo and even a fast intake if your doing the install yourself. Clutch is a must if you don't already have one.

Yes all myself, well maybe with the help of some friends. Clutch is stock as far as I know, what would be recommended for a clutch to back all this?

I would call Brett Land (owner of land speed development). He went above and beyond to help me with my setup and does the heads specific to your build and can spec you a cam to match your goals. Then invest in a set of American Racing Headers no matter what. Hands down the best header on the market.

If its a street car a monster stg 2 would be a good fit and should last while in that power range.
