Default Raw oil out exhaust !!

Buddy fired up his '00 T/A 224/224, LSX ,Patriot 5.3's, LT's ,ORP and there is now raw oil coming out pipes and puddling on ground , and when hot it smokes out pipes. Took oilcap off and appears to be no blow by. Car had only 20,000 miles prior and never had a problem. What could it be ...guides?? Thanks.

If raw oil made it all the way through the pipes, mufflers, and tips, then he has SEROIS problems. Prolly just soot mixed with water.

blowby is supposed to be when oil makes it past the rings
i had bad blowby from my rings going south, and a TON of soot/oil residue came out the tailpipes
anytime I fired it up, it left streaks everywhere the first couple minutes

from what you're describing it sounds like there is big problems with the exhaust valve /valve guide or seal...

if the valve is too small for the guide or or the other way around it can ruin a good seal leak oil into the exhaust. for instance maybe your heads got a 5/16 stem valve instead of the factory 8mm...but that is probaly not the case. they are most likely out of round or or had a hard life in the past (unless they are new)

I would call patriot and ask them about the valve choices and guide tolarances

but your situation sounds very unlikely to me there would have to be major issues

Thanks for the replies, I just had fired my 231/237 package as well the same day and there is a fair bit of soot leaking through one of my y-pipe connections, but I know it isn't oil ....just soot and water , haven't seen his car in person I have only talked to him. I'll pass it on to him.

Time for a leakdown. That will help you find if its the exhaust valve. At least you don't have blow by and you know the problem is somewhere with the heads and not the block so it wont cost much to fix the problem.

Thanks, Yup gonna do a leakdown test in the morning. If there was any blow by nevermind badddd blow by out the pipes at all there should have been a hint of it out the dipstick tube or maybe a sniff out the oil fill cap when it was pulled off. The same guy did my 00 SS and the 00 T/A and he is pretty meticulous, so I am pretty sure the problem lies in the heads. I guess he can take that up with Patriot. Other than that my car pulls like a friggin nascar on the top end...woot woot !!

When I had bad blowby (85 -90 % on 1 piston, 2 other burnt ones that I did not check) my dipstick was popping out and blowing oil all over the engine comparment but not out the exhaust lol. Keep us updated.

Lets see Patriot heads and oil out the pipes. Sounds like your friend could have received one of the bad sets Patriot inadvertantly let out of the shop. Couple of my Vette friends had huge oil consumption problems and had to send the heads back to Patriot.

Mike .K.

So far his tube hasn't blown out , and with a 20k engine it seems that it will be the heads. Thanks , I'll update tomorrow.

So far that is the general consensus, he would have had the heads in his posession for probably 6 months?
So far My car has been fine...have only 600-700 miles on it now. Maybe his car got a bad pair. That is not cool, lots of time went in to these cars.
