Default How much oil do you run with?

I have heard that oil starvation is a big problem with LS1s, especially in high G corners, but I would think hard launches could starve the front of the bottom end. I have heard of guys running as much as 7 quarts with a stock bottom end and stock pan.

How much do you use?

5.5 + filter recommended

usually works out to be just under 6

If you run too much oil you can get a hydraloc situation....BAD BAD BAD...

It looks like a full 6 quarts is going to put me 1/2 quart over stock. I think that is what I will go with from now on...

youd need alot of oil for it to hydrolock but with to much and can airate the oil as the crank spins creating air bubbles and once air is sucked into pump and pumped threw motor thats where the damage will start so yes you can have to much but 5.5-6 with filter and your good

7 qts with a filter here. If you run AX with 6, you are really risking a rod bearing.

Great links Mitch, I hadn't seen your post until now. I will definitely run more than 6 quarts if I plan on AXing or open tracking. Looks like 7 is a pretty good amount to run.
