Default Is there a right and wrong way to store new cylinder heads

I am curious if there is a right and wrong way to store cylinder heads??? i have a new set of PRC 225 as cast that will be going on this spring and have had them in their packaging and boxes laying flat on the floor of my office for a couple months. But i always see people store the heads upright. is this just sot the mating surfaces dont see damage or scratching??? thanks

Yep, the idea is to protect the mating surfaces. If they are packed correctly, that is with the mating surfaces against soft material, you can store them laying down. The problem with storing them standing up is that they can get knocked over.
