Default Question about valvetrain noise

Will there be a significant difference in valvetrain noise between a cam that has .581 lift and one that has .561 lift? Given all else (duration and LSA) are all the same. I know what a .581 lift cam sounds like.

For example only:
Would there be a diff. in the valvetrain noise between MTI's C2 224/224 .581/.581 on a 114 LSA
and
Thunder Racings TR224 cam
224/224 .561/.561 on a 114 LSA

Thanks.

Mike

3 or 4 local guys used the comp 216 220 532 525 114 cam which is a mild slow *** ramp cam with 918 springs on stock heads they had the biggest sewing machines ive heard....i ventured out and put a 224 224 581 581 112+2 in XER (Xtreme energy fast ramp cam)......my valve train was 10 Times quieter than theirs and i was using 918s as well.....ive since added heads with 987 dual springs and a FMS F13 cam and the valvetrain is louder yet still quieter than a lot of other cars ive heard....i think all cars are different, unless youre gonna spray or got an automatic get the C2 cam on a 112, youll like it lopes just nice and driveability kicks ***

Its not really peak lift that determines valvetrain noise...its mainly due to ramp rate...the valve size also makes a difference as do tolerances in the valvetrain...i.e. lifter preload.

Also how are the 987's holding up to that cam? I know you have them working on the very edge of what they are rated. Got any Dyno's you can post?

yeah I've got about 8k on mine with a 588 lift cam. No issues whatsoever here either. Although I've thought of going a little bigger on my setup and didn't want to really change springs. Thanks for the info. Any other mods on yours? I don't see your sig. I'm assuming your car is a m6.
