Default Changed timing chain and lost oil pressure

Have an ls1 in my 2001 TA has a ms3 cam and we degreed cam to 108 and lost power so I pulled everything back apart and set timing back straight up and power came back up. Thought everything was good but now I only have 20lbs oil pressure at idle and 40 at higher rpms. I only loosened oil pan to get pickup off and my mechanic buddy said that using fealer gauges to set up oil pump was not necessary. It is the original pump with over 100k of shear abuse!!! Will a new pump installed correctly up my pressure again? Car only driven 25 miles sinse changes.

I would not drive it any further if you want to save extra damage. If you had higher oil pressure before and less now, it is likely installer error. You may have pinched the o ring.
We have the very nice and very popular Melling High Pressure pump available here if you want it!

The pump could possibly be on it's way out. That or the O-ring.

I'd say o-ring.

I'm going to pull motor this weekend and change pump and o ring I have a set of 799 heads to install anyways so no big deal. Only takes me about 3 1/2 hours out and back in with heads/springs swapped and oil pump swapped in hell I,ve pulled this motor 3 times in 3 weeks now trying different heads/cam timing options. What is the best oil pump for a high mileage ls1?

Not just the high volume will give you those pressures.
100k is a good life span for a stock oil pump.

The pump needs to be aligned.

My bet is o ring over alignment issues.

My guess is pinched O-ring. Buy new one from dealer and tear it down to replace it. It sucks, but it's gotta be done. Let us know how it turns out.

I'm buying a stock GM pump and o ring for the fix and thinking about replacing lifters with ls7's but I don't think there is anything wrong with my original lifters except for having high mileage (136k)? What's y'all's thoughts on the lifters? I'm hoping the lightly ported 799 heads give me a few more ponys over my 853 heads. Would love for my car to make 420whp with the 228/232 cam that's in it. But seriously thoughts on lifters?

I would change the lifters. They are not like spark plugs that can easily be changed later.

We have a group purchase on the lifters for $90 shipped right now. Cant beat that.
Id rather use the 10295 melling in any replacement but thats just my preference though.
