intake leak
How do you know if you have a intake leak? Issues im having, car ideals up a couple grand just idealing every so often, a/f spikes the same way. An i have noticed oil under intake on top of valley cover.

A leaky intake won't have anything to do with oil on the valley cover, The only thing the intake gasket seals is air..... no water.... no oil. The oil could be from Valve cover or some other source.
You could still have an intake/vacuum leak somewhere.
I use carb cleaner to check for vacuum leaks, Spray it around the intake gasket and listen for a change in the idle. One word of warning..... Since carb cleaner is flammable it could catch on fire. I always keep a fire extinguisher handy anytime I messing with flammables.
