Looking for a cam suggestion
I got a Cheyenne pickelfork jet boat I'm gonna rig up with LS power. The plan is to run an LQ4 shortblock with a set of CNC ported L92 heads that have a nice spring package, a Victor Jr intake and a Demon 850 carb exhausted thru 1-3/4" primary tube headers all sparked with an MSD-6LS. Would like peak torque around 5k rpm and peak hp around 6. Jet boats have no need at all for mid range power. I've done plenty of EFI stuff but this is my first carb build.
Open to suggestions on the cam.

Right now I have a set of AFR 210's that I'm gonna sell to go this route, or is that a mistake?? The AFR's are bad *** and I have an LG Motorsports G5X3 cam kit with it that has the Comp dual springs. Already got a catherdral port intake too. Just need a short block for that set up. BUT, it's an EFI cam spec'd at 600/610, 238/242 @ 50, 114 LSA

I'd be more concerned with the lobe profile than the specs in a marine motor. Continuous rev between 5 and 6k you will want some smooth lobes. QXX and HUC in the comp catalog would be best.
AFR210's on a motor and use like that would probably be wasted. They are low and mid range tq monsters with peak numbers slightly above average. A rectangle port cam would do you well. I would certainly suggest contacting one of the cam vendors.
Use the AFR's to fund the short block.

For this combo I would highly recommend getting your cam specs/lobes from a reputable vendor as boats have big differences in requirements from cars obviously. A couple of suggestions would be EPS, TSP, Cam Motion, or Futral.

A little more info. A Cheyenne isn't your normal cruise around the lake boat. We run 800' outlaw drag around Texas and Oklahoma all summer long. You set the impeller in the Berkeley jet pump to the operate in the motor's max RPM range for 12 seconds. These are the bracket cars of the water.
