I Have 224/224 112lsa now I want bigger
I have the 224/224 112LSA cam, but now I want a bigger cam. I just had it put in but I think I am gonna have to replace my lifter's because one is ticking. So since my engine is going to be tore aoart again what good time to throw a bigger cam in it.
Here is my set up.
S2 heads
224/224 112LSA cam
built tranny
4000 stall TC
3.73 gears
What do you guys think I should get.
TIA,
Warren

Depends on what you want ultimately, better times at the track or a nice, fat, useable power band on the street. Go too large and you might regret it unless its more of a track car than street car. I've got the X1 cam (230/227 .591/.571 112 lsa) and I love it, but I probably wouldn't go any larger at this point because its my daily driver and occassional track car. Big power doesn't really start coming in until after 3,500, under 2,500 its comparable to stock SOTP.

if you want to go bigger though i'd look into something like the FM11 or FM13, tsp231, ect

yah your not gonna see a huge gain and it will probably be mostly peak by going to a big cam unless your talking trex size...i know mike98ws6 gained like 13 peak hp and some tq as well...personally i would just stick with what you have knowing what i know now cuz i really think that 224 cam is one of the best options out there and knowing bigger isnt always better.

What are your goals for your car?
I had a TR 224 114 LSA cam and went to a custom 230 230 .575 .575 114 LSA cam. I now get more exhaust smell and it's a little harder to tune. Live and learn I guess... My car is about 95% street and 5% track.
My opinion, unless your going to have more of a track car, don't go with all these big cams that are available, keep what you have. Ever think about adding a 100 shot of N20?

Hey Warren, you need to talk to Brian, (ws602), over on our Louisiana board. He just had RPM put in one of their camshafts. He went from a 224 to a 230/236. He has the exact set-up as you and he is loving the new found power. When he got it installed, he had to leave early so he didn't get a chance to get much tuning done, but he managed to stop by H-ville on the way home. He went from 11.8's to 11.3's consistant with hardly any tuning.
