Default Cam and intake suggestion for my 5.3 mustang

I'm trying to figure out which cam and intake I should go with on a 5.3 with ported 706 heads and 4.8 flat top pistons, the mustang weighs 3000# and I have 1 & 7/8" longtubes, it's backed by a th350 with 373 gears, it see's some weekend street use but mainly grudge racing, I'm also gonna spray with about a 150 shot, any suggestions would be appreciated

I went carbureted with mine and I wouldn't change a thing. Im also using a GM ASA camshaft too. Sounds great, easy on springs and makes great power under the curve as well. I made 310 wheel through an unlocked th400 on a stingey dynamite dyno.

Oh ok thanks, I forgot to add it's already setup for efi also, but I did think about going with the edelbrock victor jr intake with the elbow and use a 90mm throttle body just not sure if I want to do that or go the ls6 intake route, but I would like to get a cam spec'd for my setup

Call Pat G for a cam spec and Victor Jr. Will flow better up high. Cost is what will dictatae which is used in most cases.

Carbs have there advantages (simplicity) but make no mistake about it EFI is better if you want to fine tune to the T. The third gen camaro I just sold with a bone stock and I mean 160k miles bone stock, made 310 RWHP on a mustang dyno. It was a unlocked TH350 through a 9".

For a intake either a LS6 or a BBK SSI. Cam size is going to depend on the TC stall rpm and the rpm range where you want the engines power-band.

Thanks, I'll do that, I'm not gonna say cost isn't an issue but the way it looks is the Victor Jr. Setup will only be a few more dollars since the ls6 intakes are getting harder to find at a decent price these days

I wasn't thinking about the BBK SSI but it could be an option too, but about the converter I'm gonna buy another one based on what would work with the cam that is spec'd and I don't really care if I have to turn it a lot, I have a light car so it shouldn't need a low power band with major torque cause it should 60' good either way but I could be wrong with my logic tho lol
