Default LQ9 LS3 top end build out

I am currently in the middle of a LQ9 build up, and have come to the point where i need to switch the top end out. The base for this project is a 1967 GTO GM A-Body. The car will be used for street primary (with track here and there). I am used to a rough drive of a vehicle and have a mini cooper for long commutes. I would like a good cam to put the long tubes and the exhaust system to work. So dont mind a little bit of a cam. The build will have 4 disc brakes and converted to IRS. This will not be build for drag but more for good ol fashion aggressive driving. I have had the car since i was 18, i am 30 now and want it to grow with me.
SO... I lack the know how to pair these items up.

1. Price would be nice to keep down. I am not rich yet... but willing to pay to do it right the first round. 3000 to start.

2. I would like about 500-550 usable reliable hp out of this build. Willing to run premium but would like the flexibility.

3. My confusion sets in with cylinder clearance, Fly cutting.... which i am willing to do if need be.

4. I also lack the brains to pair valves, springs and the head build to match a cam...

5. Advice on header size and exhaust size

5. I also would love input if you have good input... All i know is old Pontiacs. I love to learn and think i might be in love with the new LS platforms.

side note... Would not mind finding a blank or schematic with measurements for valve covers/engine dress up kinda set up... have some extra stainless steel to use up. So you know of a sticky, please point me at it... save me a fight with the SS and my bench bender.

Update to build. Turbo charging.

475sx turbo, ls3 manifold, ls3 heads, Dual springs, turbo cam and looking for intercooler options at the moment.

Anyone know a good place for a mail order tune? Advice still welcome.

you'd probably get some better answers and more information if you posted this in the correct section...

Internal engine isn't the correct place to get information on building a motor?

Are you talking 500-550 at the crank or at the wheels?

If you're talking at the crank, that shouldn't be too hard. Some ported 243s from A.I. and a decent can, speed engineering 1 7/8 headers, and an LS6 intake should get you there. For your goals flycutting shouldn't be needed.
