Is it a MUST to pull the heads to install lifters?
I was swapping a cam and dropped 2 lifters in the oilpan. Since I have access to a lift and will be pulling the motor and putting it on a stand......
Is it possible to replace the lifters from the bottom of the motor? Do you have to pull the heads off?? Has anyone actually tried or does everyone just think you cant??
Any help is appreciated.

unless you can slide them in through the cam journals and up into their bore, its pretty much impossible to do it without pulling the heads. and the way I just described you'd have to be about 2" tall and carry the damn thing with you inside the motor. When you tear it down you'll be able to see exactly how they go in, theres no other way as far as I know.

You have to remove the heads. After removing the heads it's a good idea to have them milled a little as the aluminum heads warp. In fact I've never seen a set that didn't warp a little after being installed and run.
