Default What is the baddest cam for the LS1?

I have a 1997 C5 Corvette and I'm looking for a cam that is sick but still streetable with no problems. Any opinions?

Moving to internal section as soon as Jon, Pat, or Dan hits this. But you might want to look into a 230 plus duration cam. Maybe even the T-rex cam from Thunder. Also you should see the HP2 and HP3 cams from Horsepower Engineering

Does the HP2 have the same specs as the M2?

How big are you willing to go?

What RWHP numbers do you want?

How how of lift numbers can you tolerate?

How horrible of an idle can you live with every day?

I'm willing to go pretty big. I just recently started looking at the T-Rex but some people on the corvette forum think that is too much. Thunder Racing said that wasn't really a street cam when I talked to them. Most people on the Corvette Forum have recommended the G5x3 cam from LG Motorsports or the 3x from Cartek. I want high numbers and something that will be fast as hell on the street and the track if possible. Also I'm planning on going with 4.10 gears.

The R2D2 Colonel has runs pretty well. I am going to Move this to Internal section so maybe you will pick up some more response to the question.

I guess the Cartek 2x cam in a Vette went around 10.90 and the new 3x should go 10.70 thats what Dave said at Cartek. I'm trying to figure out if there are cams faster then theirs. Theirs dynoed at around 440hp and LG's G5x3 cam was a little bit higher than that but LG's cam is bigger from what I've been told. Of course these cars have all the bolt ons and 4.10 gears.

No they were cam only cars. There head and cam package people are running 10.5's with them from Cartek. Thats why most of us now are thinking of just going with a cam because in my opinion for the money its the better route.

I'd look into the TSP 231/237 .598/.595. It's considered one of the larger cams, and is streetable.

Here is a vid clip of the 231/237 with open LT headers:

231/237, Pacesetter LT headers, LS6 intake, open headers
