Default best heads to buy or should I port and polish.my stock ones???

My 2001 ws6 has 241 heads on it now the car has 21k miles they have never been ported my question is woukd it be worth my time to have my stock 241s gone thru or should I buy a set of 243s and have them ported? Will all my exsisting parts interchangeable between the two heads?? Or should I buy a set of trick flows?

It all depends on how much power you want and how much you're wanting to spend

For just a H/C car, the stock castings are fine. You can still makemake great power with the 241/243 castings. The 244 has a potential to make a few more horses.

I meant 243. Check out Advanced Induction or Total Engine Airflow.

If I buy a set of 243s do I have to buy new valve springs pushrods ect or is all that interchangeable between the 241s and 243s?

I'd either have your stock heads ported or buy some aftermarket castings. By the time you buy a good set of 243's and have them ported you'll be over 3/4's of the way to the cost of some Trickflow 220 or PRC 225 as cast heads.

Everything is the same ancillary parts-wise. Push rod length should be checked regardless as head milling (which I would consider a great improvement), gasket thickness, cam, etc can change it. Easy to do with a $20 Comp push rod checker.

That sounds like an awesome deal if I read that right. $550 to have them re-do the cc and port them? I wanted something cheap to tide me over until I can build a bigger motor, that may be the ticket!

That thread helped sway my decision to stay with the 241 casting. Once I get my cam specs and heads installed, I will post results.

AI does good work. Something about seeing stock castings CNC'd is really awesome. I went with a cam motion cam for my setup and it drives beautifully. Specs in my sig.

Yeah I don't know how I came to that conclusion lol. Not such a good deal now . I'd just as soon buy some ported 243s and sell my factory heads to minimize downtime and not worry about shipping to and from.

Yep Ive seen it perform numerous times and I plan on getting them down the line. Deciding on a cam is the hard part for me because Ive known what heads Im getting for years.
