Default There is such a thing as a good looking LSXRT intake!!

Guys,

Always thought these "truck" intakes were pretty hideous looking (with the cover on at least.....very sexy with the cover off!)

Anyway.....ported this unit recently for a customer who opted to have me paint it my signature color scheme. The black color reduces its massive look of a slab of drab-azz gray and the lettering helps make it pop a bit adding to the overall look.

For the guys that haven't seen one of these with the lid removed you might be surprised.....its the equivalent of a composite cross ram and its design is extremely effective.....the big shame is it doesn't fit mot passenger cars without seriously hacking up your firewall and running a large cowl hood.

Cool stuff....

Nice work. I may just have to hack my cowl up and run one of these on a 418...

I'm gonna try to make one of these fit in my car and I already have a Sunoco hood. Intake looks good.

Has anyone done a back to back test with this against the car intakes?

Just curious because I do have room to run one...and I suspect unlike the Edelbrock which loses a bunch down low this should outperform throughout the curve...just not sure if it's enough to justify switching.

Tony has. It's worth like 20-25 over a FAST 102. And doesn't really lose anything down-low IIRC. Hog out your heads and throw one of the Mamo ported FAST LSXRTs on there...

Good lord...I thought maybe around 10 over a 102. Mine is a 90mm at that.

This might be something I should consider in the future. Used market for 90mm Fasts is pretty soft though...

Does the stock truck intake fuel rail work? Would my Bosch ls1 style 42# injectors work? (I seem to remember trucks using a different style injector)

I'd buy WHATEVER HOOD WAS NEEDED for my Corvette if I could get it to fit... THAT is the question I have.

Will it fit a C5 with a hood change?

You would have to massage the cowl quite a bit also.....alot less than an F-Body though. You would need a sizable front scoop in the hood to clear the large TB/CAI inlet and where it would end up. I saw a guy that installed one on a C5 a couple of years ago....if you do some Googling you may just find pics of the set-up.

While the gains are large, the difference in aesthetics for my taste is far too great unless it was truly a race car and the look fit the bill.

For a classic "Hot Rod" with an open engine bay or truck build that easily swallows it and I would be all over this intake.....like I said its a composite cross ram with runners long enough to make good torque and still have a big high RPM charge.

How much port taper do those things have? What is the cross section at both ends?

It is an ugly SOB compare to the car Fast intakes (also painted black of course...IMO the gray looks like **** period), but if the gains really are that huge I could probably get over it.

It looks a lot better than the regular truck intake, and I bet it would look a **** ton better painted Chevy Orange.

We did one a few weeks back for a FAST 102 going on a Corvette. Great looking intake, and I agree the truck intakes look rough in that FAST gray drab color. Never been a fan.

What the hell was FAST thinking when they made all of those grey? I painted my 102 as soon as I Dremeled it for my injectors.

RHS always gets screwed in the deal; nobody ever paints that to stand out

Well it'll fit in a GTO, but definitely not with a stock hood!

I would think it would also fit in a Gen 5 Camaro.

Absolutely right..as many times as I've drooled over this intake I never even noticed the RHS there. What is the relationship between RHS and FAST?

How would the RT fare at say, 7-7200 RPM. I know the longer runner is great for low and midrange. Just curious how it would work with a larger, say 236/240 cam and shifting around 7-7200
