Default Cam recommendations, best performing 1/4 mile cam for stock heads?

Im looking for a cam thats going to dominate at the track with stock heads. I know of a few cams in particular that are being used to break into the 10s, but then again, they have really extreme setups. My mods are in my sig. however I plan to go with more gear and more converter hopefully soon. If I end up with a cam that has more than .600 of a lift or very close to it, I will more than likely use the Patriot dual spring kit. I want to try and get low 11s and maybe if I end up with the right setup break into the 10s with the right weather and track preperation. What cam do you suggest? Please list manufacturer, developer, and specs of cam. Thanks a lot.

(I had a similar thread to this one, but got off topic debating a particular cam. So that is why I started another.)

with your weight and setup you should go 10's with the trex cam. i say that cause it pushed my tank to 11.2 in crap weather.

Whats the specs on that cam? Whatever they are, theyre not going to get me into the 9s. I wish it was that simple though.

look at his sig. he's got 4.56 gearing and he's on the stock bottom end if i remember. i'd assume rev limiter is 7k or so as well.

yep, what he said. rev limiter is at 7200 and i shift at 7000 for now but the cam pulls hard all the way to 7200 so i would like to shift higer than i do. however im brave, not insane. it is stock bottom end for a few more months.

Do bigger cams (more duration and more lift) require more rpms to benefit from the cam? My bottom end is completely stock and the cam I have in there now peaks at 6300. I installed the cam straight up and there is no advance ground into the cam, so Im assuming thats why it peaks so late. Anyhow, if I get a much bigger cam which more than likely Im going to do, is it going to peak any lower or will I be able to shift any sooner or about the same? I shift now at 6500. Id like to have the rev limiter at 6800, but in order to allow my tranny to shift around 6600-6700, I need a little room for overshift and that would mean I need to put the limiter at 7000. Anyhow, Im still on the hunt for a cam, so any more suggestions? Thanks.

Take a look at the LG G5X2 for an automatic car, we have a guy in our group that has one on his TA, works great, no driving problems, etc. That may be an option, give Lou a call at LG and he will be glad to answer any questions you can think of asking, he knows his cars!! I just put the G5X3 in my car and love it, the best thing so far, pulls like a raped ape!!!!

I actualy bought my car for a daily driver so i could save the miles on my truck. Im realy impressed with the fact that a 350+rwhp car gets 34mpg. I may change up the exhaust though to get rid of the loud drone on the highway. Maybe dual bullets? Or dual magnaflows?

I would like to get it into the 10s though now that i have it. It got realy addictive. Allthe money in my truck, and the car pulls way harder on motor. Do you have any driveability probs with the t-rex around town?

That cam only record will soon be a void. I have knowledge of a lighter car with a little bit more "cam only" power that's on its way to the track in the next 2 weeks.
