Default milled heads with stock length pushrods?

Just wondering, I now (finally) have the motor back together with all of the work done to include the heads have been milled .030.

My question is... I put the motor back together with the hardened (Thunder racing) 7.4" (Stock length) pushrods that I had in there before and was wondering, Is this going to be okay?

Thanks!
Troy

Use .030 shims under the rockers and you will be okay. This will make up for having the heads milled.

It depends on the base circle of your new cam, most aftermarket cams have a smaller BS and the milling will make the stockers come back to be about right.

Allright, thanks guys. I put in a new custom grind Comp cam (from Combination Motorsports) so thinking (hoping) that it will be okay.

But I have to admit, I obviously addressed this possible issue a little late, didn't I ?

All the Comp Cam LS1 grinds I have measured had a 0.030" smaller basecircle. If you milled your heads 0.030" then stock length will be ideal.

You may been putting too much load on the lifters, did you find out what the base circle of the cam was, that is a big factor.

If the base circle of the cam was smaller than stock and I shimmed the rockers, that would cause me to run too little preload.
