Default Poll: If you have a Hotcam, did you replace the shims?

As it says, if you installed or had installed an LS1 Hotcam were the shims replaced? I find it hard to believe that the installer that was going to install my cam was going to replace the shims (I decided to install the cam myself anyways). If you didn't use the shims post how many trouble-free miles you have driven.

I installed my Hot Cam on a weekend, and didn't think about having to remove the valve stem seals to replace the shims. Needless to say, valve seals were nowhere to be found on a weekend, so I left the seals and shims alone. I had no issues at all while running the stock shims. About 18,000 miles later, I put the shims in when I freshened-up the bottom end.

What do you mean by shims, I installed everything that came in the kit. and replaced the valve seals why I had everything torn apart.

The best bet would be to run the 02 valve stem seals. The seat is built in with the seal. It is the same thickness of the shims that come withe the hotcam.

I did not replace the spring shims. Drove for 7,500 trouble free miles before getting a bigger cam.
