Default ls2 rods/pistons in lq4

I have a 02 lq4 I bought several years ago with about 50k miles. Disassembled it years ago and boxed everything up - had big plans to bore/stroke with forged pistons/rods heads, the whole works but it never happened.

Now just thinking of re-assembling with new bearings/rings and running as is - it's for a gbody swap.

My question is, could I swap in ls2 pistons and rods (for more compression) and not have to rebalance? trying to avoid machine work. would be stock press pin lq4 piston/rod for stock floating pin ls2 piston/rod. What do you think?

PM KCS as he has probably weighed both. I'm betting the LS 2 stuff is heavier and a rebalance could get costly if Mallory slugs are needed. If your stock dished pistons are still in good shape perhaps some smaller chamber heads would be a cheaper route.

Was afraid someone would say the ls2 stuff was heavier....If I have to rebalance then I'll wait and go aftermarket when I save up some more money. I PM'ed KCS, hopefully he has some weights.

Thanks,
Dean
