Default 2004 GTO engine swap questions.

Hey guys im looking to swap a a new engine in the goat. It will either be a 5.3, or a 6.0 truck engine. I still have my old ls1 so I am curious just to what will bolt on to 5.3, or 6.0 truck engine from my ls1. I wont be using the old cam from my ls1, but i do have heads and fast. Also ls6 stuff to throw at the new junk yard engine. So anyone have experience swaping a 5.3, or 6.0 into these gto's? wiring all the same, or anything i have to watch for when purchasing.

I think you may have to drill and tap a hole for the alternator bracket. Also you want to make sure that you are using a Gen III engine if not you may run into reluctor wheel issues that can be cured with a converter box and other small differences that can be addressed with conversion kits that sponsors here sell.

Yep, the iron blocks lack 2 bolt holes for our alternator bracket setup on the GTO. Fortunately, one hole can be drilled and tapped as it has the boss for it.
Everything else will plug right in like an LS1 block.

The iron blocks also have a hole for the dipstick tube that will need to be plugged. The GTO has a hole in the oil pan it uses instead.
