Stock 02 LS6 heads on Stock 99 LS1 motor
I want to swap in a set of LS6 heads I just got for a good price but I need to know some things.
1: The head gasket part #'s are not the same.
a: 97-01 LS1 is one part number
b: 02-04 LS1/LS6 is another part number
What is the difference between the 2?
Which one should I use?
2: The cam base circle of a 99 LS1 is 19.7mm and 19.0 for an 02 LS6, and the 02-04 LS6 valves are .6mm longer than the LS1's.
a: What is the best way to realign my geometry?
1) shim the rockers?
2) use different length pushrods?
3) both?
4) If either or both of the above, is there a standard amount I can do this, considering the motor and heads are stock?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

The head gaskets were made with a different material starting in 2002. I do not know the materials though. And for #2 I installed an 02 LS6 cam with Comp 918's and rolled on down the road with no problems. Many others have done the same with the same results. I would recommend CC 918's for stock LS1 valves over the LS6 springs unless you get the 02 LS6 valves.
