Default Got my 408 stroker back today!!

And boy does it run like ****!!!! It is running very very rich and will hardly stay idling. I need a tune in the worst way. It feels like it is going to be a monster once it is running ok though. I wished I could have gotten it back and had it atleast kind of run.

I would refrain from driving it until it is tuned. If you're really rich you run the risk of washing down the cylinder walls with fuel and thus ruining your rings.

I would get at least a basic tune before driving it anymore. No need to ruin a kick *** motor because of temptations to drive it. Get a basic tune, just to get to a dyno tune and then drive the hell out of it.

What are you refering to when you say a basic tune? The PCM is tuned for a 224/114 cam and longtube headers but it is still running very rich. So whats this basic tune?

Take your PCM to wherever you are going to get it dyno tuned and have them do a quick tune for your current setup. I assume that you mean it is tuned for a 224 cam in a 346 and not the 408. Get a very basic tune for your current cam, injectors, intake, and the extra cubes. Just enough of a tune that you can drive it to the dyno. If it is running as rich as you are making it sound, I would not risk running it until the basic tune for the motor. Wash a cylinder and the motor has to come apart again, not something you want with a new motor.

I am getting a basic tune for my 370, so I can drive the 2+ hours to APE to get a dyno tune. There is no way my stock tune would make it that far without washing a cylinder. Another alternative is to get the car trailered to the dyno, depending on how far you have to trailer it....

I am going to Bowling Green and getting it done at TEA, which is 4 hours from me so driving it is out of the question. The tune in the car now is for the 346 with that cam. When I start the car it blows out black smoke and I have already replaced the plugs once since the motor build. The ones I pulled out were ungodly black and after replacing the plugs and driving it around for a few minutes I pulled one out again and it was black but still had enough electrode to fire.

Thanks for the heads up on the tune, I will call TEA today and see if I cant run up there sometime this week.
