Default 5.3 cam in 5.7

I've got a 01 lm7 that has some rust in 2 cylinders so I figured I'd go ahead and bore it to a 5.7. This will be going in a 78 cj7. I'm not really concerned with power past 5000. This will be a budget build. Re-using stock 5.3 heads and truck intake. I want to make all the power I can as low as I can. Will keeping the 5.3 cam be my best bet or should I swap it out to an ls1 cam? Again, not concerned with peak hp. Just want really good tq that comes in early.

If the ls1 cam was from a ybody/'vette, I would say to use the ls1 cam. If it's from a camaro ls1, I wouldn't bother. The ybody ls1 cams have earlier intake centerlines (~113°), which gives them the same intake valve closing event as the lm7 cam, ~32° ABDC.

The fbody cams have intake centerlines of ~117°, placing the ivc event later, at ~36°.

You are going to want the earlier intake valve closing event to help with early torque production.

Thanks for the response. The only cam I have access to at the moment is a 2000 camaro ls1 cam, but if I'd be better off with the 5.3 cam I'll just stick with it.
