Default AI 226cc vs. TSP PRC 2.5

Still trying to understand the flow of heads at different lifts. These are the two porting options I am leaning towards for my 243's. TSP is $1300 and comes with springs. Ai is $1000 and odes not. Im looking for power under the curve since my car is so heavy. I need your opinion on which head is "better." It will be on a ls6.

From the looks, it seems that the PRC's flow better. Is that correct? TSp it top. AI is bottom.

Yes, it would appear that the prc heads outflow the advanced induction heads. Or at least, the flowbench used to test the prc heads was more generous than the bench used to test the AI heads.

Are both test results from the same diameter of bore?

No I believe the AI is 4" and Prc is 3.9". Does that make a difference?

If you think the decision should be based on flow numbers alone I suggest you redesign an engine system to use the heads with the valves held open and a steady vacuum signal.

Both are reputable companies with good product, YOU are just trying to make a decision based on the wrong criteria.

The first sentence says That I am still trying to understand head flow. What criteria do you go by when looking for heads?

Phil does damn good work. If you're willing to compare flow data, then you should be willing to compare results. I think you will find that advanced induction heads do their talking at the track, Flowbenches be damned.

Yep, fully agree. That's why I hope OP takes the time to read through the threads I posted for him.

Yeah I have been. I appreciate it. I didn't see them at first. is the 232cc overkill for a 346? or is 226cc just right? would be the 232 be too big? Its the same price so the next thing would be deciding on which ones?

Some of the best 5.7 heads out there are Mamo220 and TFS220. On that, I would say 226 should be a very good port volume. At 232, you will flow more at the top end but might sacrifice low end torque can 226.

Okay thanks I appreciate the help. So when you have your heads chosen, what do you look for in a cam that will match with that particular head?

Here is what Phil told me when I inquired:

Any big difference between the 226cc and 232cc 243/799 program? Is there a loss in throttle response/low RPM power/torque with the 232cc program over the 226cc program?

Thanks again Phil,

Nate

Not really. However the 232 in theory will be up a little in the higher rpm range with bigger cams and more cid. Thanks for your interest.

You could get AI's opinion on cam. They are able to spec custom cams too, or you could hook up with guys like Brian Tooley, Kip Fabre, Ed Curtis, Martin Smallwood, etc.
