Default TSP 231/237 vs. Comp 224/224 cam

I've got the Comp cam 224/224 .581/.581 112 LSA in my car now. Would I gain much by going to the TSP 231/237 cam? I'm making 394rwhp with the cam, longtubes, and lid now.

Yeah, I think you would definitely feel a difference. I would imagine you could hit 400 RWHP really easily with the 231/237.

What do you mean. I've got the stock LS6 intake that came on the car and 5.3 heads. I bought these 5.3 heads off of the internet. They didn't give me a damn thing. They were supposedly stage1 heads. I got them for $700.

thats some high lift...

How wild of a cam do you want Al?

You may want to consider the FM11 or FM13...from Futral Motorsports...

I won't have to fly cut the pistons so I might want that much lift. I'm thinking about the AFR's now too.

You are correct sir. I love the 231/237 cam, it makes great power, and it has a nice lope to it.

What other parts are going to be needed with this cam? I would assume springs. Do I need new pushrods? What else is there that I might be missin? I would be happy as hell if I could get 400hp at the wheels.

We have a complete KIT on our website that will come with the 231/237, spring kit and pushrods. You would also want a gasket kit, which runs $34.99(comes with everything you need for a cam swap).

You should see ~15RW over the 224 single with the 231/237. That's what we have seen.

the fm13 is very comparible to the tsp cam but they are 2 different animals...lets say they make the exact same amount of hp for argument sake, the tsp cam would be more lopey because its lobes arent very harsh even for having as much lift as they do...which means your springs may last longer as well as a very good introductory price...the FM13 has less lift & duration if im not mistaken but harsher lobes meaning the springs would have to be changed more often possibly, it would give you a different kind of lope as well as alot more valvetrain noise if im not mistaken and a slightly higher introductory price. Ive never driven or heard an FM13 car before this is all hearsay so take what ive said for what its worth, but I can say my tsp cam hit the spot i love the sound, the driveability even in my auto, the power and the fact that i shouldnt have to change my springs for a while

I gained about 15 hp going from a C1 (222) cam to the TSP 231/237.

Brian, thanks for the response. Would I be losing more torque down low with the 231/237 compared to the 224/224 .581/.581?

not anything you would feel. go check the dyno section, a guy posted a overlay of his 224 vs fm13 and the 2-4k tq was the same and the bigger cam gave him more top end as well.
