Bob, Chrysler used that cup and ball system on the pushrods on the old 273, 318 etc.
Please post an update with some pics when you do!

I've seen this on higher end, high rpm and high power LS engines as well. They move the push rod cup from the rocker to the end of the push rod itself and use a ball adjuster on the rocker to mate with the push rod cup. This can cut down on galling and friction issues in high end racing engines.

Some use a copper alloy insert pressed into a tool steel body on the push rod end in a v or radius "cup" configuration. Most will also employ a tool steel (H13) ball adjuster on the rocker end.

Trend uses a bronze insert where as Manton uses a copper alloy. Trend has also introduced a self lubricating tool steel "V40" push rod that also employs a cup on the push rod and utilizes a ball adjuster on the rocker arm.

As machinistone mentioned, this helps decrease wear from better coefficient of friction and better lubricity in high rpm engines utilizing very high spring pressures or where push rod angles are at extremes.

As for the member who doesn't believe machinistones findings with other trunion kits and stock trunions. Kurt Urban himself said that in his road race/street/autocross applications he builds engines for, that he has seen the trunions wear just like machinistone has in as little as 5000 miles.

I'd be willing to bet if more people pulled their rocker apart, they might find something similar to the picture machinistone posted.

I just giggle when people worry about the bronze and wear.

Bros, your con rods are bronze bushed. Those see 1,000 times the load (literally) that these ever will.

Was going to say not a lot of ppl seen the trunnions wear because they don't inspect them. Once I seen this bronze bushing trunnions I liked it. I remember che made some but thought was to pricey and mite as well save up for some jesels or crower.

Do these install the same way the other kits do? Just press in? Want to verify I can do this myself before ordering! Thanks!

That is correct, they just press in. Bottle press works best to perform this task.

Crane used this technology on their shaft system years ago. FE Fords and Chrysler used it in OEM applications. The bushing material is a high grade alloy with lubricity properties.

We are all modifying this stuff beyond OEM limits. The MAJOR advantage of bushing over the needles is if the bushing does fail it will wear and get loose and you will hear the rocker noise. If the needle fails you will hear and feel the needle lock up the oil pump.

Also, if put the needles on a flat surface and lay a flat surface on top on them the needle that takes all the load is the largest needle. With the bushing, 1/3 of the radius takes the load.

Optional fastener kit to be available.

There's a guy local(ish) to me selling these.. he also takes it a step further and "trues" the rocker face.. sounds good.

I doubt he re hardens them, are they hardened to begin with? I know he polished them out on a buffing wheel

That's my IG - the hardness is the same all the way through, it's an MIM part. We have a professional rockwell tester and made sure of that.
