Thanks! Couldn't check piston to valve today. Missing a few tools I will have to borrow tomorrow. I set the heads on the motor and confirmed that my headers will have to be up and forward unless I high mount the alternator. I also forgot the truck block is missing the upper bolt hole for a low mount. I just have not seen i high mount alternator bracket I really like.

I still need to check piston to valve, been slacking after a bout with a stomach virus. Last night I test fit the windage tray and oil pan. Had to drill out a couple of holes on the tray to fit the arp studs. I also need to check that the pickup is the correct distance from the bottom of the pan. Will probably do that tonight. Made some shims to center the oil pump on the crank. Looks like the front cover is going to need some clearancing. I test fit the intake and it is also going to need work. Not sure if it does not fit because of the head milling or the holley casting is just bad.

Finally, got cam degreed with 0 advance on the crank gear everything was where it should be. Checked piston to valve and the valves did not touch the clay on the intake or the exhaust. Got block drilled and tapped for the alternator mount and clearanced the timing cover. The bottom right of the oil pump was just barley touching it. Had the machine shop fix my intake fitment issue today. Just need torque the heads and get a set of push rods.

Over the weekend I got the oil pump centered on the crank per the melling video on YouTube, and installed the oil pan and front cover. Just need a set of pushods now. Going to try and install the balancer tonight, but my installer is not big enough or long enough for the ati hub so I might need to get creative. Still not happy with the oil pan but gmpp says it is correct.

Have been working on the tune. The picture is a second gear pull I let out at 5900 because it was leaner than what I wanted. Timing at WOT is 28 degrees. Going to change the power valve, jet it up a little more, and go 1 heat range hotter on the plugs. Hopefully 1 or 2 more jet changes will get it where it needs to be or I will have to order a bigger jet kit.

Finished round 3 with the carburetor tonight. Changed power valve to a 4.5 and went up 2 more jets front and back. Hopefully it will get my "laddle" where it needs to be air fuel wise.

I think I am pretty close am the tune up. 28 degrees timing and the air fuel is between 12.3 and 12.5 at wot. I am going to try going up 2 more jets and see if I still gain power.

364 whp and 333 torque

Yes it is! Just finished working on the carb tonight. It is still wanting more fuel it just keeps making more power with every time I jet it up. Made 385 @ 6700 and 344 ftlbs. I think I got the dip figured out, but I ran out of time.
