Default E85 cam

Will running e85 affect my cam selection vs 93? I was planning on running pump gas on my turbo 408. Has 10:1 compression. Thinking it would be better to run e85 rather than pump gas.

An e85 cam will share some of the traits of a methanol cam but to a much smaller extent. If there were a sliding scale between pumpgas and methanol, e85 would cling much closer towards pumpgas. Intake duration will likely be very similar for pump and corn. E85 will favor a small amount more exhaust duration than regular.

If no other components are changing, i'd also say an earlier intake centerline and a tad wider LSA. the corn can handle more dynamic compression favoring the early icl and opening up the lsa will help it get that extra fuel volume pushed out of the cylinder at the upper rpm's.

Thanks for the awesome info. Texas speed recommended their stage 3 blower cam 231/239 .640/.629 115 lsa. But like I said I was planning on running pump gas.

That seems like a lot of cam for a turbo motor.

Sounds like a runner...I was asking him why he thought that was a lot of cam considering it's a 408.

Since it would be my opinion that that was a tad large for a pumpgas engine, I'd say it's about in the ballpark for a 408 with corn and a hairdryer. How many psi, what size turbo, A/R, etc etc?

Haven't got the turbo yet. Still trying to do my research and choose the best one for my setup. I'm just a garage door installer so it takes me a while to fund everything

You need to be in touch with John Bewley. He owns lil john motorsports. He will tell you EVERYTHING you need to know about what turbo and cam you will need. He is the guy for sure.
