Default Oil Seeping Issue...?

I've got a small amount of oil seeping from around the bellhousing area while the car is running and for a short while after it's been turned off. I'm afraid this might be the rear main, but is there anything else I should check before ripping the whole engine out?

Cheers!

It could also be the oil pan gasket or the rear cover gasket. Honestly the rear main seal is not that bad. Drop the tranny. Remove the flywheel. Remove the rear cover.

It's not like the old SBC at all. It's a Y block. Seal looks like a hub seal almost.

You'd rather it be rear main than oil pan. I promise

^^^^ plus it could also be the oil pressure sender which is on the rear top of the block behind the intake.

Check the torque of the rear cover bolts (near the filter), that fixed similar problem on mine. They have much less torque (106 in/lbs?) than the pan bolts.

Or even the valve cover leaking down the back. Chevys have a looong history of rear engine oil leaks, its almost weird/abnormal to see it dry back there.
