Default Trying to decide which TSP package..input?

25-stg2LS6-PKG4
-Patriot Performance Stage II LS6/LQ9 Cylinder Heads with 68cc Combustion Chamber
-TSP 231/237 or TSP 231/231 Camshaft, Hardened Pushrods, Heads & Cam GM Bolt & Gasket Kit $2,239.99

25-stg2LS6-PKG3
-Patriot Performance Stage II LS6/LQ9 Cylinder Heads with 64cc Combustion Chamber
-TSP 231/237 or TSP 231/231 Camshaft, Hardened Pushrods, Heads & Cam GM Bolt & Gasket Kit $2,239.99

25-stg2LS6-PKG2
-Patriot Performance Stage II LS6/LQ9 Cylinder Heads with 59cc Combustion Chamber
-TSP 231/237 or TSP 231/231 Camshaft, Hardened Pushrods, Heads & Cam GM Bolt & Gasket Kit $2,239.99

Of these three head/cam packages I cannot make up my mind. They are all the same price so I am just looking for the best performance ie. low end grunt with constant power through 7K. (or something close to that). If anyone has any dyno charts of these packages that would be great. But basically just looking for opinions based on personal experiance and dyno pulls. I am leaning toward the 68cc combustion with the 231/231, but dont know if the 231/237 is better. Help point me in the right direction.

Thanks
Fry

Do the 59cc heads. I had that same setup and made 451rwhp 403rwtq without a ported tb or electric wp. TSP offers great support for their packages and the prices can't be beat.

maybe I am thinking wrong here, but a larger combustion chamber is better right? wouldnt it be more benefitial to get the 68's? More air, better burn, etc. Or is there a performance aspect that I am missing with the 59?

gomer....what cam did you use and what kind of tune?

I used the 231/237 and a mail order tune from TSP.

what did the tune cost you, and how does that work, do you still need ls1edit? or what...not familiar with that route of tuning.

The tune was right around $200 to $250.. I can't remember for sure, but that's all you need. Just mail them your PCM, call Jason and tell him your mods, he programs it and mails it back to you. All you have to do then is unbox it, stick it in your car, and drive. I don't have a copy of LS1edit so this was the route I chose to go.

The 59cc chamber heads will give 11.2 compression. When used with the stock bore size all of the chambers will flow equally. The 59cc chamber ia s dual quench design and increases swirl.

gomer.

how does the tune run? It just seems a little weird to send the pcm off and have a tune put on without runing it on the dyno and getting all the bugs out? I mean what are the odds of me getting this tune and having it run like ***, send it back to get fixed, run like *** again and just waste my money.

I know I can call TSP but I want to get other input before I talk to them.

Mail order tunes for our camshafts sell for $275. After you get the tune you can dyno it to check the air fuel, if its not right we update it for free

I would install the 59cc heads if I were you. 11.1 compression will definately be the best option if your not going to add a blower down the road.

see this is what I like to see. one of the TSP owners posting up to help make decisions. I have yet to see another sponser do this for these types of questions. Well at least not for mine anyway. But thank ou Jason. Your input is duly noted, and once the funds become available (will be for a winter project) I will defiatly be getting the 59cc 231/231 package.

All the chambers flow about the same, but the smaller your chamber, the higher your compression ratio, and the more power you make. You may be thinking of port volume, where bigger is generally better (although you can go too big on ports, if your cam, intake, and exhaust don't support that much flow.)
