Default Stroking my 5.3 vortec

Hello, can i start off by saying why do people not talk about the 5.3 more often? Now to the point:

I have 5.3 out of my 01 silverado and I'm looking into stroking it. I understand that typically people go from the the 3.78 bore to the 3.91 bore which is the max bore. my question is what if I didn't bore it to the max and instead did a minimum bore would it still work with a 4 inch crank? what would be the concerns there? also any recommendations on stroke kit?

p.s. please no one tell me i need to get a 6.0

The stroker crank would still work, you just suffer less cubic inches, less valve area for good flowing heads, and the loss of potential horsepower as a result. No biggie.

Callies or Compstar have great cranks and rods, Wiseco for pistons.

Default Gen-iv 5.3 al

Hi, I use my 4.1" crankshaft with the Gen-IV AL block @ 98mm + .003" in many Marine engines.

Just remember that if you have an aluminum block 5.3, the max overbore is 3.908". The Iron block is 3.910". Unless you have the rare unicorn Truck 4.8/5.3 iron block that can be bored out to 4.000".

But regardless if you bore it or not, the 4" stroke crank will work.

I prefer Callies Cranks with either Diamond or Wiseco Pistons. Make sure you get the correct crank and pistons for the rods. I think there is 6.100" and 6.125" rods available.
