Default Oil pickup tube hitting the pan

What's up guys. So I'm currently in the process of a Head/cam swap. I put on a double roller with a high volume oil pump. I've read about bending the pickup tube, was just curious as how to go about doing it? I tried putting the pan back on but it won't sit flush to bolt it up. Is this why it's necessary to bend the tube? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Did it fit before? Or did you change pan/pickups?

Need more info

Is the pickup tube the original one that came off of it? You should not need to bend the pickup tube to get it to fit, you may be having other issues. The oil pump should not change the angles or location of the pickup tube. What part of the pan is hitting the pickup tube? Also, is the pickup tube fully inserted with the oil pump and sitting flush on the flange?

Can you post a picture?

It fit before. No change of pan or pickup tube, didn't even touch it. The tube has one bolt to bolt to the pump, so when I tighten it down one side kicks out a little bit. I pulled the pan out and could see where the tube was hitting the pan. It's the front part of the pan right under there oil pump/pickup tube. I'll post pics when I get back...

The high volume pump uses the same housing as the standard/stock pump. Externally, they're identical. If it fit before, but doesn't now, there's a problem with the assembly. The fix is not to bend the pick up tube.

I would suspect that the pump is not aligned correctly. I would start there.

OK thanks Bob, I'll check into that...
But how would it bolt up if it wasn't aligned right?

Are you bolting the other side of the pickup tube to the windage tray? That will prevent the tube from rocking when you tighten the bolt to the pump

Can you snap a picture of how you are mounting the pickup tube

i never unbolted the tube. i just dropped the pan to get the bolt into the oil pump since it was a B!%*# to get to, i got the bolt in and went to bolt the pan back into place and now its not wanting to line up. i pulled it back out and saw marks on the pan from where the tube was rubbing. im not going to get to work on it again until thursday but i will send pics when i get back to it.

If you're using the spacers that came with the double-roller, you'll need to bend the pickup tube. It will not line up with the pump.

I had the motor out of the car, but I put in a vice and manually bent it forward. If it's still in the car, you're not going to be able to do that. And you need to verify your pickup is in the same location when done and isn't set high in the pan.

That's what I would do. It's a strong tube.
